Introduction

Minou is a personal planning app with a marketplace of smaller apps for the parts of life worth keeping track of. This page covers what it is, how the pieces fit together, and where each part is documented.

The apps

Three apps are open today. Each one ships with its own model and its own vocabulary, so none of them is a blank canvas you have to configure.

  • Basecamp reads your whole Strava history — not a recent window — and reports what your training is doing: training load, fitness trend, intensity distribution, and how much training volume your body is currently tolerating. It gets more precise as you add lactate threshold tests and body composition. Pick a race and it builds a plan, then rewrites the weeks ahead when a week runs over, under, or missing.
  • Finance compares financial independence scenarios side by side, projecting every return rate between your optimistic and pessimistic assumptions rather than committing to one date. You set the return range, the inflation schedule and the withdrawal schedule; every version you try is kept with its assumptions, so a later check-in is a comparison rather than a fresh start.
  • Gatherings is a recipe library and the grocery list that comes out of it. Recipes accumulate and get reused; an event groups the ones you are cooking that night; the grocery list combines their quantities across dishes, so you can see which recipes shop well together and what you already have before buying anything.

You switch apps on and off per workspace under Workspace Settings → Apps. An app switched off disappears from the navigation and takes its home-screen widgets with it. Switching one off deletes the data it holds in that workspace, so check what it holds before you confirm.

Workspaces

A workspace is the container for everything you create — activities, goals, plans, scenarios, recipes, events, and the settings each app needs. Every account starts with one, and you can create more to keep separate contexts apart.

Invite people into a workspace when it helps: a partner who cooks from the same recipes, a training partner working toward the same race. Members see the apps that workspace has switched on, and roles control what each member can change. Your own profile settings — units, currency, number format — follow you across every workspace rather than belonging to any one of them.

See Workspace and Profile.

Your data

Strava is the only external source Minou reads, and it reads only what Basecamp needs: activity metrics, heart-rate zone distribution, best efforts, and route polylines. Minou never modifies, deletes, or posts to your Strava account, and disconnecting stops all future access.

Everything else you enter yourself. Recipes import and export as CSV or JSON, workspace data can be deleted per app, and you can request a full export or account deletion at any time. See Privacy Policy.

Measured and modeled numbers

Some numbers in Minou are recorded — distance, duration, heart rate, elevation. The rest are modeled, and Minou says which is which rather than presenting an estimate as a measurement.

Every model has a method callout on the page where its numbers appear, giving the formula, its inputs, and its limits:

ModelWhat it producesWhere it is documented
Johnston 4-zone modelZ1–Z4 heart-rate boundaries from LT1 and LT2Heart Rate Zones
bTSSA per-session training stress score, anchored so 1 hour at threshold equals 100Dashboard & Performance
CTL, ATL, TSBFitness, fatigue, and form as exponentially weighted loadsDashboard & Performance
Training EffectAerobic and anaerobic scores on a 0–5 scaleTraining Effect
Impact Load and ToleranceMusculoskeletal stress and the weekly load you have adapted toRunning Tolerance
Riegel projectionProjected finish time at a target distanceRace Goals
FI scenariosPortfolio balance year by year across a range of return ratesFinance

These are planning signals. None of them is a diagnosis, a guarantee, or advice.

What Minou does not do

  • No bank connections. Finance runs entirely on assumptions you type in, including the portfolio value each projection starts from. Nothing is pulled from an account, and a Net Worth view that would derive today's figure from assets and liabilities is planned but not built.
  • No financial advice. Minou models scenarios; it does not tell you what to do with money.
  • Nothing medical. Running Tolerance and the aerobic-deficiency check are training signals, not diagnoses, and no part of Minou predicts injury.
  • No accuracy guarantee on a projected finish time or a depletion age.
  • No feed. There is no social layer, no kudos, and nothing is shared outside your workspace unless you invite someone into it.

Early access

Minou is in early access, and you join by waitlist. It is free at this stage, and it runs in the browser — built for desktop, usable on mobile. If something is broken, Support is the fastest route.

Getting Started
