Gatherings
Gatherings is a recipe library and the grocery list that comes out of it. Recipes accumulate as you cook; an event groups the ones you are making on a given night; the grocery list combines their ingredients into one list. This page covers how those parts connect and where each is documented.
Two things follow from combining quantities across dishes, and they are the point of the app rather than a side effect:
- The list helps you choose the menu. Because shared ingredients collapse into one line, you can see which recipes shop well together before you commit to cooking them.
- You only shop for what is missing. Ingredients marked Already Have stay out of the To Buy tab, so the list is what you need to pick up.

Events
An event is a date and a set of recipes. It groups recipes for one night without taking them out of your library. From an event, generate a grocery list covering everything you are cooking, or copy the whole event as the starting point for the next one.

Recipes
The library everything else draws on. Serving sizes, ingredients with quantities and units, preparation steps, and tags. Recipes are reused across events rather than belonging to any one of them. Filter, bookmark, import, and export.

Ingredients
A shared library behind the recipes. Tag ingredients by type, mark what you keep at home, and merge the duplicates that creep in.
- Ingredients — add, edit, tag, and deduplicate ingredients
Grocery List
Select recipes and get one list, with quantities combined wherever the units allow. Use it to compare candidate menus before you cook, then to shop: items move between To Buy, Already Have, and Bought as you go.
