Activities and Maps

Basecamp turns each synced activity into a detailed training record and combines every GPS route into one heatmap. This page covers both.

The activity list

Open Basecamp → Activities to browse synced sessions. Filter by activity type and sort by distance, duration, elevation, heart rate, or Training Effect. Select a row to open the activity.

Activity detail

The header carries distance, time, average pace, elevation gain, average heart rate, and calories. The activity title links to the original record on Strava.

Map

The Map tab pairs your route with synchronized charts. Move along the chart to see the matching position on the route with its pace, elevation, and heart rate. Cadence, grade, and power appear where the source activity carries them. Fullscreen gives the route more room.

Stream data loads from Strava when you open the activity. If Strava rate-limits the request, wait a few minutes and open it again.

Splits

The Splits tab lists lap pace, elapsed and cumulative time, distance, elevation, and any heart-rate, cadence, and power data. The pace bars compare each lap with the one before it:

  • Green — faster than the previous lap
  • Amber — slower than the previous lap
  • Blue — the first lap, or no meaningful change

Zone Analysis

Zone Analysis translates the activity's heart-rate data into the Johnston 4-zone model. It shows your primary zone, intensity compliance, zone distribution, elapsed time, elevation, Training Effect, and any notes the analysis produced. If the tab is unavailable, configure your zones under Basecamp Settings.

Training Effect comparison

This tab shows Basecamp's aerobic and anaerobic scores next to the device-provided values where they exist. The source label says which data Basecamp used: zone distribution, average heart rate, or a fallback. Where the 2 disagree, the models differ — neither figure is a diagnosis.

See Training Effect for how the scores are built and read.

Route heatmap

Open Basecamp → Maps to combine GPS routes across your synced history.

Pick a layer for what you want to see:

LayerReading
FrequencyBrighter routes are traveled more often
PaceDarker blue is faster recorded pace
Heart RateDarker red is higher recorded heart rate

The activity count links back to the activity list. The pace and heart-rate layers need the matching stream data, so a route without it contributes only where data exists.

Missing routes or detail

Activity detail depends on what Strava provides. Indoor sessions have no GPS route, and some activities carry no laps, heart rate, cadence, or power. If a GPS activity is missing from the heatmap, run Sync Audit to retrieve missing activities and backfill route summaries.
