Workspace

A workspace holds activities, goals, plans, scenarios, recipes, events, and each app's settings. This page covers creating and switching workspaces, and the administration behind one.

Your personal profile and display units follow you across workspaces rather than belonging to any of them.

Create and switch

Create a workspace from New workspace… in the workspace selector. Give it a name, choose its URL slug, and complete onboarding.

To switch, open the selector in the navigation and choose another. Minou returns you to the workspace you last used.

Workspace Settings

Workspace administrators open Workspace Settings from the workspace selector. It manages the workspace itself, not your personal units or Basecamp training preferences.

Workspace details

Administrators can change the workspace name, URL slug, and description. Changing the slug changes every URL for that workspace; Minou redirects you to the new settings URL after saving.

Members and invitations

The Members section lists active members and pending invitations. Depending on your role and this workspace's access settings, you can:

  • Invite someone by email and assign a role
  • Resend or revoke a pending invitation
  • Change an active member's role
  • Remove a member

The available actions follow your permissions. An action you cannot take is not shown.

Access settings

Administrators control whether members can invite others, and whether invitations need approval. These rules apply to this workspace only.

Apps

Switch apps on and off for this workspace under Apps — Basecamp, Finance, and Gatherings. Switching one off removes it from the navigation along with its home-screen widgets, and it does not change your personal profile preferences.

Switching an app off permanently deletes the data it holds in this workspace. The confirmation dialog lists exactly what will go, and asks you to type the app's name before it proceeds. An app holding no data switches off without deleting anything, and can be switched back on at any time.

Ownership and deletion

The primary administrator can transfer ownership to another active member. Transfer it before leaving if someone else should keep control.

Deleting a workspace removes all of its data permanently and cannot be undone. Read the confirmation dialog before confirming.
